My Name is Rodi Alexander Friedman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and entertainer. I have recently been hospitalized with a collapsed lung and as of March 5th, 2009, I have been diagnosed with an extremely rare lung disease, Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). LAM is a progressive and frequently fatal lung disease that affects women, usually during their childbearing years. Because LAM is often misdiagnosed as asthma, emphysema or chronic bronchitis, scientists estimate that more than 250,000 women worldwide are unaware they have this tragic disease.
I have partnered with friends and family to create a non-profit auxiliary of the LAM Foundation. All funds will go directly to research and patient services. As of now there is no cure or treatment for this debilitating disease.
